The farm
Cobor is a perfect blend of high nature value pasture, biodiversity conservation, organic farming, a warm tourist and business destination and a good place for horses and cattle. Starting in 2007, Markus F. Jebsen purchased in and around Cobor almost 500 ha of agricultural land from owners, which had left the village and didn’t use the land anymore, plus several houses, which had been abandoned 20 or more years ago, and which were in an advanced condition of deterioration. During the following years, one of these houses had been renovated to become a guesthouse. In 2016, Markus donated all his land and the houses, together with 1,000 ha of forest in the Făgăraș Mountains to Foundation Conservation Carpathia, a Romanian NGO that wants to create a new, world-class wilderness reserve in the Southern Romanian Carpathians for the benefit of biodiversity and local communities (www.carpathia.org). Between 2016 and 2018, the Swiss Temperatio Foundation gave two grants to the Foundation Conservation Carpathia to develop the land and the houses into a functioning biodiversity farm. The farm became such an example of a successful conservation enterprise that aims to develop the local community, in perfect balance with the environment.
Experience the farmLand of Horses
The place where any horse would want to live
Cobor village, located in southern Transylvania, hidden between meadows and pastures that are among the last areas of its kind in Europe, remaining ecologically intact, makes an ideal place for raising horses. Grazing free on pastures, horses have already become an iconic image for the area. We offer Ideal conditions for young or retired horses, as well as for mares with foals.
